al-Mutawwal Sharh Talkhis al-Miftah is Imam Sad al-Din al-Taftazani's longer commentary on al-Qazwini's Talkhis — the supreme reference of post-classical Arabic rhetoric. Where his shorter Mukhtasar suits the intermediate student, the three-volume Mutawwal is the work for advanced study: every topic in maani, bayan, and badi is unfolded in full, every position is engaged at length, every interpretation is settled. The work has been the standard advanced text of Arabic rhetoric across the post-classical Sunni world for more than six centuries.

About The Author

Imam Sad al-Din Masud b. Umar al-Taftazani (722-792 AH / 1322-1390 CE) was a Persian polymath whose works became the standard textbooks of scholastic philosophy, logic, theology, and rhetoric across the post-classical Sunni world.

الإمام سعد الدين مسعود بن عمر التفتازاني (٧٢٢-٧٩٢ هـ) عالمٌ فارسي مَوْسوعي، صارت كتبُه مراجعَ الدراسة المدرسية في الفلسفة والمنطق والكلام والبلاغة في العالم السنّي ما بعد الكلاسيكي.
