About The Book

al-Uqud al-Luluiyya is Imam Yusuf al-Nabhani's celebrated collection of poetic odes in praise of the Prophet (peace be upon him) — gathered under the metaphor of pearl-necklaces, with each ode a string of jewels offered at the threshold of the Beloved of Allah. The collection draws on the long Sunni tradition of madih nabawi from al-Bara b. Azib through al-Busiri's Burda and Hamziyya to the Sufi qasidas of the later Sunni centuries, and adds Nabhani's own substantial contributions to the genre in the late-Ottoman register.

About The Author

Imam Yusuf b. Ismail al-Nabhani (1265-1350 AH / 1849-1932 CE) was a Palestinian Hanafi judge who served in the courts of Beirut under the late Ottoman empire. Born in Ijzim near Haifa to a family with deep scholarly and Sufi lineage, he received his classical training at al-Azhar in Cairo under masters including Shaykh Ibrahim al-Saqqa and Shaykh Yusuf al-Barqawi. He devoted his enormous literary energy to defending and propagating the traditional Sunni-Sufi heritage in an age of rising reformist challenge — composing more than eighty works in salawat, istighatha, manaqib, theological defense, and Prophetic praise.

عن الكتاب

"العقود اللؤلؤية" مَجْموعةُ الإمام النبهاني الشهيرة من قصائد المديح النبوي — جَمَعَها تحت استعارة العقود من اللؤلؤ، فكلُّ قصيدةٍ منها عِقْدٌ من جواهر يُقَدِّم عند بابِ حبيب الله. يَسْتَمِدّ الديوانُ من تَقْليد السنّة الطويل في مديح النبي ﷺ من البَرَاء بن عازب إلى بُرْدَة البوصيري وهمزيّته إلى قصائد الصوفية المتأخّرة، ويُضيف إسهامات النبهاني الخاصّة في الجنس بأسلوبٍ عثمانيٍّ متأخّر.

عن المؤلف

الإمام يوسف بن إسماعيل النبهاني (١٢٦٥-١٣٥٠ هـ) قاضٍ حنفيٌّ فلسطيني خَدَم في محاكم بيروت في العهد العثماني المتأخّر. وُلد بإجزِم قرب حيفا في أسرةٍ ذات سلسلة علميّة وصوفية، وتَلَقَّى علمَه الكلاسيكي بالأزهر على شيوخٍ منهم الشيخ إبراهيم السقّا والشيخ يوسف البرقاوي. كرَّس طاقته الأدبية الهائلة للدفاع عن تراث السنّة والتصوّف ولِنَشْره في عصر التحدّيات الإصلاحية، فألَّف ما يَزيد على ثمانين كتاباً في الصلوات والاستغاثة والمناقب والدفاع العقدي ومديح النبي ﷺ.
