About The Book

Alfiyyat Ibn Malik is the universal foundational poem of classical Arabic grammar — a 1,002-line rajaz versification of the entire system of Arabic nahw, composed by the Andalusian master Jamal al-Din Ibn Malik in the seventh Islamic century. The poem covers every major topic in nahw in tight, memorisable couplets that allow the student to carry the entire grammar of the language in his memory. For more than seven centuries, the Alfiyya has been the universal beginner-to-intermediate matn of Arabic grammar across the Sunni world.
