Fadl al-Muwatta wa Inayat al-Umma is Sayyid Muhammad Alawi al-Maliki's celebrated short work on the virtues of Imam Malik's al-Muwatta and the Sunni community's care for this earliest of the canonical hadith collections. The work documents the rank of al-Muwatta in the Sunni hadith tradition (Imam al-Shafii's famous statement that no book after the Quran is more correct than the Muwatta), surveys the major commentaries and recensions, and treats the contemporary controversies surrounding the work — all in the elegant Hijazi register characteristic of Sayyid Muhammad's prose. About The Author

al-Sayyid Muhammad b. Alawi al-Maliki al-Hasani (1365-1425 AH / 1944-2004 CE) was the supreme contemporary Hijazi sayyid scholar — Maliki in fiqh, Ashari in kalam, Sufi in his inner orientation, and the teacher of multiple subsequent generations of Sunni scholars across the Muslim world. From his home in Makka he taught, authored, and guided the global traditional Sunni revival of the second half of the twentieth century. His works — published as the Dar al-Hawi imprint — span fiqh, hadith, sira, Quranic sciences, and the defence of traditional Sunni-Sufi practice.

عن المؤلف

السيد محمد بن علوي المالكي الحسني (١٣٦٥-١٤٢٥ هـ) إمامُ السادة الحجازيين المعاصرين — مالكي الفقه، أشعري الكلام، صوفي السلوك، وشيخُ أجيال متعدّدة من علماء السنّة المعاصرين عبر العالم. من مَنْزله بمكّة المكرّمة دَرَّس وألَّف وقاد الإحياءَ السنّي التقليدي العالمي في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين. مؤلَّفاته — المنشورة باسم "دار الحاوي" — تَمْتَدّ في الفقه والحديث والسيرة وعلوم القرآن والدفاع عن الممارسة السنّية الصوفية التقليدية.
