Anwar al-Mannan is one of Imam Ahmad Rida Khan al-Barelawi's theological works treating the divine Names al-Mannan (the Bestower of Favours) and the corresponding mannan-related verses of the Quran. Working in the high theological register characteristic of his Arabic prose, the Imam unfolds the implications of this divine Name for Sunni-Ashari theology, for the believer's understanding of divine grace, and for the rejection of certain reformist positions on the question of God's extension of favour through the unseen world.

About The Author

Imam Ahmad Rida Khan al-Barelawi (1272-1340 AH / 1856-1921 CE) was a South Asian Hanafi-Maturidi scholar of Bareilly in northern India, founder of what came to be known as the Barelvi movement defending traditional Sunni-Sufi orthodoxy. Educated under the leading Hanafi masters of nineteenth-century India and later deepening his learning during Hajj at Mecca, he authored more than a thousand works across the Sunni religious sciences — in Urdu, Arabic, and Persian — and was the central figure in the South Asian Sunni defense against Wahhabi and reformist challenges.

"أنوار المنّان" أحد المؤلَّفات الكلامية للإمام أحمد رضا خان البريلوي في مُعالَجة اسم الله المنّان وما يَتَّصِل به من آيات. يَعمل الإمامُ بأسلوبه الكلامي العربي الرفيع، فيَفُكّ آثار هذا الاسم في الكلام السنّي الأشعري، وفي فَهْم المؤمن للنِّعْمة الإلهية، وفي ردّ بعض المواقف الإصلاحية في مسألة امتداد إنعام الله عبر العالم الغيبي.

عن المؤلف

الإمام أحمد رضا خان البريلوي (١٢٧٢-١٣٤٠ هـ) عالمٌ حنفيٌّ ماتريديٌّ من جنوب آسيا، من بَريلي بشمال الهند، مؤسّسُ ما عُرف بـ"الحركة البريلوية" دفاعاً عن السنّة والتصوّف التقليدي. تَلَقَّى علمَه على كبار الحنفيّة الهنود في القرن التاسع عشر، ودَعَّم تعليمَه في الحجّ بمكّة المكرّمة. صنّف أكثر من ألف كتاب في علوم السنّة بالأردية والعربية والفارسية، وكان الشخصيّةَ المركزية في الدفاع السنّي بالقارّة الهندية في وجه التحدّيات الوهابية والإصلاحية.
